Portrait by Caspar Sessler

Carolin Gallacher works as a designer and project manager in Bremen. In her personal work she makes picture books. Through her poetic and wild visual style, she creates stories that inspire happiness and courage. Imagination, music and sustainability are core values of her art.

About Imagination

She studied landscape architecture in Berlin. Here you see her favourite space: The Tempelhofer Feld. It’s a huge area which has been an airport once. The sketch above she was supposed to draw as a student. During her studies, she developed a desire to make picture books because they allow her to create beyond the limits of reality.

About Music

Music was always a part of her childhood home. Maybe this led to Carolin listening to a record, years later, in a small flat in Frankfurt, reading the text on the record sleeve. She had it opened like a book. Then it hit her: „I’ll add a soundtrack to my stories“. The music enhances the experience of the stories by providing harmonious melodies.

About Sustainability

She is fascinated by the independence, mystery, and beauty of wild animals. To raise awareness for endangered animal species by telling stories about them is a goal of her artwork. In the picture you see her with a wild Dartmoor pony in 1999 in Devon, England.
